    IYERzone Yoga Center, is an oasis of tranquility in the heart of Port of Spain, Trinidad, WI. Located on Abercromby Street, right in middle of all the hustle and bustle of a fast paced ‘Port of Spain Lifestyle’, IYERzone is a haven, offering a different dimension of healthy and holistic lifestyle – a dimension which is saturated with Constant Integrated Awareness.

     

    The I.Y.E.R. in IYERzone, is an acronym and stands for Integrated Yoga Exercise Routine.

     

    Well being, in IYERzone, is not limited to the physical body, but is studied as an extension of one’s healthy mind and ever expanding spirit. IYERzone is about reviving traditional values around yoga and meditation. It is about understanding how and why these seemingly age old concepts, are applicable and relevant even today. Iyer Zone is about finding equanimity and tranquility in the midst of everyday life. In IYERzone yoga routines is taught as a means to awakening the unlimited potential that lies within each one of us.

    The IYERzone vision is to revive the importance and relevance of the deep spirituality of yoga; to relive the spiritual teachings of yoga masters that have been taught since thousands of years; to build a resting place, a retreat, here in this beautiful island of Trinidad - a place of profound wisdom and peace; a place that is a haven for yogic and spiritual knowledge; a place that is ideal for assimilation and practice of unfettered spirituality; a place for anyone who wishes to explore the self; in short, a place where self meets spirit.

     

    IYERzone brings to you the different paths of yoga – Bhakti Yoga (yoga of devotion), Jnana Yoga (yoga of wisdom), Siddha Yoga (yoga of Perfected Beings) and Raja Yoga (The Royal path to yoga) !

     

     

  • Who is Sunder

     

    Dr. Sunder Iyer, an MD in Alternative Medicine, a PhD in Banking and Finance and an ordained ecumenical minister, has been practicing the science of Yoga since the age of 10. 

    During his youth, Dr. Iyer spent over 15 years in India, in the ashram of Sri Sathya Sai Baba.

    Along with academics, Dr. Iyer continued to pursue the learning of traditional yogic practices and philosophy. He studied ancient Sanskrit texts and yogic approaches across different yogic schools in India.

    Dr. Iyer has now dedicated his life to spreading the message of yoga, wellness and human advancement through spirituality.

    In the workshops and retreats he conducts around the world, Dr. Iyer seeks to share his knowledge of human advancement and yoga to help others experience life to its fullest potential.

    Monday - Mindfulness Yoga

    Traditional Yoga poses that integrate the body, breath and mind to help learning to be in the 'NOW'

     

     

    Tuesday - Cardio Yoga

    Aerobic yoga and breathing routines to energize the body and detoxify the mind

    Wednesday - Restorative Yoga

    Deep yogic relaxation and breathing exercises to unleash the power of the subconscious mind

    Thursday - Strengthening Yoga

    Invigorating yoga routine for overall conditioning and strengthening core muscles

    Friday - Meditative Yoga

    Yoga poses and breathing to awaken our higher self and open the door to self-actualization

    CLASS II   : 5.15 pm to 6.30 pm

    Note: Beginners and those who wish to take to a more gentle yoga practice, should plan on attending the second evening session at 6.30 pm to 7.30 pm on Mondays and Wednesdays.

    Note: Tuesdays and Thursdays sessions will last 75 minutes and will be dedicated for advanced Yoga asana practice

    What to bring:                                            Nothing, except yourself! At IYERzone, we provide the yoga mats, bolsters, belts and yoga blocks - everything that will help you learn yoga in a safe and healthy manner.

    All you need is to make up your mind and come!

     

     

    What to wear:                                          

    Any loose comfortable workout clothes are perfect for practicing yoga.

     

     

    The Yoga hall will be air conditioned, so it is suggested you wear an extra layer.
